On July 4, 2012, Committee on the Issues of Science, Education, Culture and Sport of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis held a conference dedicated to the improvement of legislation on geodesy and cartography.
The conference was attended by deputies of the lower house of parliament, heads and specialists of the State Committee “Yergeodezkadastr”, scientists-specialists of universities and professional colleges, members of the mass media.
Participants of the conference noted that the Republic of Uzbekistan is an integral part of the world economy and international transit routes pass from its territory, in order to exit to the world's oceans new railways and roads are constructed, air transport services are organized, logistics centers are arised, industry is rapidly developing, which naturally requires need to improve the legal framework of this sphere, based on the requirements of time.
The Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On geodesy and cartography” and other laws, as well as the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan №3502 of November 15, 2004 “On education of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on land resources, geodesy, cartography and state cadastre”, resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan №483 of October 19, 2004 “On organization of activity of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on land resources, geodesy, cartography and state cadastre”, by-laws provide the legal basis for regulating the activity on geodesy and cartography.
In the republic in the sphere of geodesy and cartography modern technologies, equipment that provide economic development and security of our country is used, attention is paid to the relevance of topographic and cartographic materials and data in public administration.
Participants of the conference emphasized that in the Republic of Uzbekistan positive work is being implemented on establishment of new national geodetic satellite industry based on national interest, which creates the possibility of entering the country into the global geodesic sector.
At the event, views were expressed concerning the strengthening of the requirements for high technology, experience of organization and development of digital and electronic maps, multi-functional centers as for further development of business and entrepreneurship.
Copying, illegal distribution of digital and electronic data card is the cause of counterfeit goods. It is therefore necessary to pay particular attention to further strengthening copyright protection in the sphere of creation of geodesic and cartographic products.
Following the conference relevant recommendations of the Committee were adopted.
